Destination Station

We are excited to announce we are partnering with the Northland’s NewsCenter Women’s Expo to bring “Destination Station” to the DECC on March 8, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Destination Station” is a space dedicated to celebrating the entrepreneur. Our space will feature entrepreneurial history, business owners who have had success with NEF programs, fun interactive displays, prizes, and more.

The highlight of this day will be our five “Empower Hours.” These one-hour presentations throughout the day are intended to inspire and inform the new entrepreneur as well as existing business owners. All activities and sessions are FREE and open to everyone – men and women!

The 16th Annual Joel Labovitz Entrepreneurial Success Awards recognize business owners and entrepreneurs in the Twin Ports and Arrowhead Region who have dared to dream, taken a risk, and made a difference.

Award ceremony:  May 14, 2008, Barker's Island Inn, Superior, WI.

The 2008 Superior Business Plan Competition is open to any potential entrepreneur or existing business planning an expansion.  The business must be located in the Twin Ports or its surrounding communities. (Prior winners are not eligible.) 

Individuals interested in participating in the competition must prepare a business plan.  The plans judged to have the most potential for success receive cash awards. The top award winner may become eligible for up to a $10,000 zero interest loan if the business plan is implemented within one year after receiving the award. Up to $4,000 in cash awards.

This is a national training program that engages local experts, public officials, current and former elected officials, and speakers to help train and share their experience and stories of success.

This training is affordable for women from all income levels.  The cost is $150 and scholarships are available.
